International Baseball Partners (IBP) unveiled its plans for a new winter baseball league for the island of Curaçao.
IBP’s Michael Powers announced the new Curaçao Winter League is another step in establishing Curaçao as a major baseball hub in the Caribbean.
“We are excited to bring more to light of IBP’s overall strategy of developing quality baseball on the island of Curaçao. Our partnership with the leadership of the island and top professional baseball officials affords us the ability to expand our near term goals in South America.”
Powers noted the new winter league is planned to begin play in October of this year (2015).
“The Curaçao Winter League (CWL) will incorporate top baseball talent from professional baseball leagues in the United States and Europe as well as tapping into the excellent pool of players found in Curaçao. We have in place the infrastructure and brain trust to make a strong statement of investment in the great people of Curaçao and the viability of adding a new gem to the Caribbean winter leagues.”
IBP will announce additional information about the CWL next week according to Powers.
